FRANKLY SPEAKING WITH FRANCA

Q: I feel like I’m always behind in life compared to others. How do I stop feeling this way?

Franca’s Answer: That feeling comes from comparison — and comparison often removes context.

When you look at others, you’re usually seeing highlights, not the full picture. You don’t see their struggles, delays, or setbacks. You see outcomes.

The problem is that you compare your full journey to someone else’s visible moments.

That creates the illusion that you are behind.

But life is not a race with a fixed timeline. There is no universal schedule for success, growth, or achievement.

What matters is alignment — are you moving in a direction that makes sense for you?

Instead of focusing on where others are, focus on your own progress.

Ask yourself: what have I improved in the last year? What have I learned? What has changed?

Progress is often clearer when you look backward, not sideways.

It’s also important to define success for yourself. If you follow someone else’s definition, you will always feel behind, because you’re chasing something that may not even matter to you.

Finally, reduce exposure to constant comparison. Social media, in particular, creates a distorted view of reality.

You don’t need to disconnect completely — just be aware of how it affects you.

Because once you focus on your own path, the feeling of being behind starts to fade.

You’re not behind. You’re just on a different timeline.
