“I Keep Waiting for My Confidence to Grow Before I Start”
Dear Franca,
I have ideas I want to pursue, but I don’t feel confident enough to begin. I keep telling myself I’ll start once I believe in myself more.
Franca Says:
Many people think confidence comes first and action follows.
More often, the opposite is true.
Confidence usually grows through experience. Every conversation, presentation, project, or challenge completed successfully becomes evidence that you are capable of doing more.
If you wait until you feel completely confident, you may wait much longer than necessary.
Start with small, manageable steps. Progress creates momentum, and momentum builds confidence.
Remember that every expert was once a beginner. Every successful professional once faced uncertainty.
The difference is that they moved forward despite it.
Don’t allow the absence of confidence to prevent the experiences that would help you develop it.
Sometimes courage is simply taking the first step before you feel completely ready.
