FRANKLY SPEAKING WITH FRANCA

Q: “I struggle with motivation. I start projects enthusiastically but lose momentum quickly. How can I maintain drive?”

Franca’s Answer:

Motivation is not a constant; it ebbs and flows. Relying solely on fleeting enthusiasm often leads to inconsistency.

One strategy is to create structure. Break goals into small, manageable steps. Completing each step provides a sense of accomplishment, which fuels momentum.

Another approach is identity-based motivation. Instead of focusing on outcomes — “I want to run a marathon” — focus on who you want to become: “I am someone who trains consistently.” Aligning actions with identity strengthens follow-through.

Finally, recognize that energy fluctuates. Some days will be productive; others less so. The key is consistency, not perfection. Even small progress compounds over time.

By combining structured steps, identity alignment, and self-compassion, motivation becomes sustainable rather than fleeting.
